Calls to Confession

1 The God revealed to us in the pages of scripture is a welcoming and inclusive God who directs us to love one another. We seek to remove all the barriers that keep us from that love. Come now to confess all that separates you from others and from God.
2 Our God is a God of justice, waiting to be gracious to you , yearning to have pity on you. Blessed are all who wait for the Lord (Isaiah 30:18)
In faith, let us make our confession to God.
3 Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. (Matthew 11:28-30)
Let us rest in God's mercy as we pray together.
4 The proof of God's amazing love is this: while we were sinners Christ died for us. Because we have faith in Christ, we dare to approach God with confidence. (Romans 5:8 - Hebrews 4:16)
Let us admit our sins before God.
5 If we claim that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, god who is faithful and just will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (I John: 8,9)
Let us confess our sins against God and our neighbor.
6 The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit. (Psalm 34:18)
Let us admit our brokenness to God.
7 For God so loved the world that God gave the only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God sent the Son into the world, not to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him. (John 3:16,17)
Let us confess our need for God's saving love.
