Sermon: “Let Us Go On” by Rev. James Reisner

Jesus began his ministry in his hometown. As word got out, a great crowd gathered seeking healing and eager to hear from this new prophet. Jesus went out to a quiet place at night to seek some solitude and rest. Peter and the others found him and summoned him to return home, but Jesus said, “Let us go on.” They set out for other towns in the region.

Jesus is not the possession of any one place, or culture, or tradition. No church, or nation, or religious site can claim Jesus as their own. He is for all people, and places, and times. And so the focus of any one parish cannot be parochial. While the church needs to be aware of and respond to the needs of its immediate neighbors, our mission field is the world, all of it, and nothing less. Let us go on.

We invite you to prepare your own table for communion.  Find a piece of bread, fill your cup, and join in the celebration of the sacrament.

About Online Worship

We will gather by ZOOM (feed available starting about 10:45 AM). At the moment, Pastor Reisner and a few others broadcast from the church sanctuary while worshipers will be invited to sign on ZOOM.

Directions on how to connect and participate in virtual worship will be sent via a group.io e-mail. If you are unfamiliar with ZOOM we recommend you read up a little before the service. We will set an informal and experimental mood, ask forgiveness as we stumble along our way in a new medium. It will be fun.
