Getting Around TPPC

Getting around Takoma Park Presbyterian Church can be hard on your first visit.

Takoma Park Presbyterian Church is the host of a variety of events - meetings, films, worship services, etc. TPPC is also the home of the Takoma Park Child Development Center (abbreviated as TPCDC), and hosts Girl and Boy Scout meetings throughout the year. Finding your way around can be confusing - here are some resources to help you find your way to the event in which you’re interested.

TPPC Floorplan

Below you’ll find a floorplan of TPPC. All of the major meeting places are labeled. This floorplan is also available in a PDF file.

TPPC’s Layout in General

The Takoma Park Presbyterian Church has three levels -

  • the Lower Level, which contains the Assembly Room, Youth Rooms, and rooms used for the Takoma Park Child Development Center;

  • the Sanctuary Level, which has the Sanctuary and Choir Room, the Chapel, Parlor, and Library, as well as the Don Patti Memorial Gym in Fellowship Hall;

  • the Upper Level, which has the Sunday School Rooms (called the Saints, Maple, and Powhatan rooms).

Across the courtyard from the main building is Fellowship Hall, which has two levels:

  • the lower level contains the church and Pastor’s office, the TPCDC office, TPCDC classrooms, and the Little Gym, which is often used for scout meetings.

  • the second level contains the Don Patti Memorial Gym and the Community Kitchen, a fully licensed kitchen that operates as a shared-use community kitchen whose mission is to serve as a resource within the community to alleviate hunger and economic inequality.

How Do I Get To My Event or Meeting?

To enter the Church Sanctuary, go up the stairs that face the intersection of Maple and Tulip and enter the double doors.

If you have a meeting or event in the Chapel, Parlor, or Library, enter through the Maple Avenue doors and walk down the hallway.

If you have a meeting or event in one of the Sunday School rooms, or the large meeting room on that level, enter through the Maple Avenue doors and take the stairs to the next level. You can also take the elevator up to the 5th level.

If you have a meeting in the Assembly Room, there is a gate on Tulip Avenue you can go through and take the sidewalk down to a side door where you can enter the Assembly Room. Alternatively, you can enter the Maple Avenue doors and go down the stairs to the assembly room.

The Don Patti Memorial Gym and the Community Kitchen have their entrance on Tulip Avenue.

To get to the TPPC Church Office or the TPCDC main office, there is a gate on Tulip near the Patti Gym. Go down the sidewalk and enter through the door on the right at the bottom of the sidewalk.

Accessible Entry

To get to any room in the main church building, there is a ramp on the Maple Avenue side of the building between the Maple Avenue door and the entrance to the Sanctuary.

This level serves the Assembly Room. To get to other levels of the church, there is an elevator near the Assembly Room.

The elevator serves five levels:

  • First Level: Nursery

  • Second Level: Assembly Room

  • Third Level: Chapel, Parlor, and Library

  • Fourth Level: Sanctuary and Choir Room

  • Fifth Level: Sunday School Rooms

In Fellowship Hall, the Patti Memorial Gym and the Community Kitchen are accessible through the door on Tulip Avenue. The Church Office and TPCDC Offices are not accessible at this time - there are stairs between the door and the offices. If you need assistance, contact the church office at 301-270-5550 or office@takomaparkpc.org.

There are handicapped parking spaces reserved on Maple Avenue.
