Sermon: "Here We Are Again" by Rev. Mark Harper
I am delighted and humbled to be leading worship with you as your newly called pastor. How appropriate that on our first Sunday together, our Lord has provided a feast of celebration and nourishment for the journey ahead. May God guide us ever closer to the Beloved Community rooted in Jesus' love and compassion.
Grace and peace,
Mark
“We ask: Where is your table? Who is sitting around it? What are you hungering for? Dorothy Day said, ‘Peace begins when the hungry are fed.’ And I wonder if justice begins sometime after that. When the hungry are not just fed but fed well. When those who grow and make the food are honored and flourishing. When we are in relationship with the land and practicing mutual reciprocity with all its inhabitants. When we begin to truly feed each other, not just with physical food but also with the spiritual nourishment and political solidarity we need to survive.”

We will celebrate World Communion Sunday in this service. Celebrating the sacrament on Zoom creates a challenge. If you are worshiping from home, we recommend that you prepare your own elements for communion – a cup of juice or wine; a piece of bread. We may trust that the holy mystery of the Living Christ among us which we affirm in Communion is great enough to transcend the limitations of our distance from one another in a Zoom meeting in this hybrid form of worship.
Hybrid Worship Continues This Sunday
We continue to live-stream our worship with the primary focus on delivering a complete service for people participating on Zoom.
This Sunday our services will originate from the Sanctuary for the first time since it was closed for renovations during the summer. People are welcome to come to church for worship, but no one should feel obligated to be personally present.
We respectfully ask that everyone wear masks in the church for their own health. Those who are presenting or leading the congregation in singing may remove their masks while they are presenting or singing.
About Online Worship
We will gather by ZOOM (feed available starting about 10:45 AM).
Directions on how to connect and participate in virtual worship will be sent via a group.io e-mail. If you are unfamiliar with ZOOM we recommend you read up a little before the service. We will set an informal and experimental mood, ask forgiveness as we stumble along our way in a new medium. It will be fun.
