Creating Community
A church community extends beyond the sanctuary and Sunday Worship. Takoma Park Presbyterian Church has several events to deepen our congregation’s sense of community, from our boisterous “Shrove Tuesday” pancake supper and talent show to November’s “Just Thanks” potluck lunch to several groups that meet for fellowship, service, and sharing.
Many of the ministries that make community events and fellowship happen are listed below.
Community Engagement
Early in the pandemic, the Community Engagement ministry partnered with the Worship ministry to deliver many Zoom services with a personal touch, including one on Thanksgiving morning for those not able to be with their families.

Gleaning at Takoma Park Farmer’s Market
A dedicated group of TPPC members gleans extra produce from the Takoma Park Farmers Market on the second Sunday of every month. Volunteers meet at the Takoma Park clock tower at 1:55 PM and ask the farmers if they have donations to make to Shepherd’s table.
Please contact us at gleaning@takomaparkpc.org if you have questions or want to volunteer.
Men's Group
This is a place to talk about our lives, joys, and concerns about the church. A gathering to create a confidential place to express opinions and offer ideas that may benefit the congregation.
Our typical time and day are on a Friday, beginning at 7 PM and ending at 9 PM, with folk welcome to stay past that as they wish. Simple snacks are provided, and we ask men coming to bring a drink (with or without alcohol) for themselves as well as one to share.
For further information and/or to be added to the group email, please contact mensnight@takomaparkpc.org.
Women’s Bible Study
The Women’s Bible Study meets on the second Saturday of every month from September through June at 10:30 AM. We gather as a group of women of all ages to engage deeply in Bible study using Presbyterian Women’s Horizon’s Bible Study.
This year’s session begins with the book, Let Justice Roll Down: God's Call to Care for Neighbors and All Creatures by Patricia K. Tull. All are welcome to join us.
Our first meeting is Saturday, September 14 from 10:30 a.m. – 12.00 p.m. in the Parlor, with a potluck lunch starting at Noon. The remaining sessions will be on Zoom and will continue monthly on the 2nd Saturday of the month.
If you would like a copy of the book, or have questions, please contact womensbiblestudy@takomaparkpc.org.
