Sermon Title: “Blessed” by Rev. James Reisner
“When we can reach beyond our fears to the One who loves us with a love that was there before we were born and will be there after we die; then oppression, persecution, even death will be unable to take our freedom,” wrote Henri Nouwen.
No matter what happens this coming Tuesday, we still belong to God. We are defined not by the circumstances of our society, nor our place in it. Amidst "toil, tribulation, and tumult," we need to remember our true identity.
Who are we? We are what Jesus called his disciples at the beginning of the Sermon on the Mount. We are Beloved.
We invite you to prepare your own table for communion. Find a piece of bread, fill your cup, and join in the celebration of the sacrament.
Please plan to stay on with the community in the Zoom gathering following worship to remember the saints who have died this past year or at any time. People will be invited to enter their names and their saints' names into the chat box. After the service we will follow the order of the names on the list and listen as people talk about those they have lost but who live with God and in the hearts of those who love them. If you have a photo, you can show it on the Zoom screen. If you have a candle, you can light it.
Happy All Saints Day!
About Online Worship
We will gather by ZOOM (feed available starting about 10:45 AM). At the moment, Pastor Reisner and a few others broadcast from the church sanctuary while worshipers will be invited to sign on ZOOM.
Directions on how to connect and participate in virtual worship will be sent via a group.io e-mail. If you are unfamiliar with ZOOM we recommend you read up a little before the service. We will set an informal and experimental mood, ask forgiveness as we stumble along our way in a new medium. It will be fun.
