2024 Advent and Christmas Events
Lighting the Advent candle is an Advent tradition at TPPC
Takoma Park Presbyterian Church will host several events to celebrate Advent and Christmas. A list of these activities appears below; it will be updated as more details become available.
A Family Christmas Eve service with carols and candle lighting will be held at 5 pm on December 24th. This service will be held in the Sanctuary and available on Zoom with a special link.
A group from the church will be Christmas caroling on Sunday, December 22 at Victory Towers at 2 PM and the Takoma Park Gazebo at 3 PM.
A choral worship service was presented on Sunday, December 8th. The featured work will be the canticle Magnificat – Song of Mary – by Francesco Durante, formerly attributed to Giovanni Battista Pergolesi. More information is available on our website.
A children’s Christmas pageant is being planned for Sunday, December 15th, at 10 AM in the Assembly Room.
Three Taize-style Vespers Services will be held during Advent on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm in the sanctuary (also available on Zoom), beginning December 4th and running through December 18th. For more details, access this blog post.
Takoma Park Presbyterian Church is hosting the Alternative Gift Fair on Saturday, December 7 from Noon to 4 PM. You can meet representatives from 14 wonderful charities and learn about their missions and the gifts they are offering. This year, TPPC is sponsoring the Namulaba Health Center in Uganda For more information about the event, access the Alternative Gift Fair website.
The Ministry of Worship provides an opportunity to purchase a poinsettia plant to decorate our sanctuary on Christmas Eve, which may be dedicated in honor of someone or in memory of someone. More information can be accessed from our website.
